Celebrating 93 Years of Educational Excellence
Fall 2011

It is hard to believe how quickly time is passing but now is the time to start thinking about and planning to attend the 94th Annual School.  We know and understand that you have choices and limitations as far as operator training is concerned - we ask that you consider Corpus March 5th and come be a part of TWUA Annual School.

The association has negotiated the best possible room rates with the Omni Bayfront Hotel and in order to do so; TWUA had to sign a binding contract guaranteeing rooms.  The Omni Bayfront will be the host hotel and this is where the Last Board Meeting, Opening Session, Awards and Reception, Casino night, and most of the events are held so if you can us this facility for your housing needs.  If you receive an error message or anything that says the room block is full or rooms are not available; please call Central Office before you book at another facility.  Sometimes it is simply a computer issue that can be resolved.

We are very happy to have a new look on the associations’ website.  If you have not looked at all the links, we encourage you to take a few minutes and explore.  You will find an electronic version of the monthly Journal.  You will find an area for suggested training classes or career path suggestions; and that is a work in progress.  There should be more to enhancements coming to this area.  We have a current articles type area at the bottom of the home page.  We will be adding a “chat room” and trying to provide a forum for members and operators to ask questions and share knowledge.  We hope you like the new look and would appreciate your feedback and comments.

TWUA is in the final phase of being ready to submit to TCEQ our Computer Based Training Program for approval.  As soon as we can demonstrate that all aspects of our proposed electronic training performs to their satisfaction, we will begin hosting operator training online.  This has been an interesting process and we feel confident that you find the final product appealing.

With the assistance of TCEQ the association was able to convert social security numbers to TCEQ Operator License numbers.  We share your concerns related to identity theft and associated problems and now we have the capability of tracking attendance and operator hours safely and hopefully more efficiently.  We would ask that when you attend TWUA training or districts meetings to use your TCEQ license number for training credit.  Any TCEQ Operator License number will work.  Even if you are a dual license holder you only need to know one number.

We need your help with our effort to become “greener”.  We want to reduce our paper use but in order to make this transition we need your valid email address.  At your convenience please log in and update your contact information.  We do not share, sell, or release your contact information. TWUA has upgraded our database functions and it is driven by email.  The membership renewals will be sent electronically, training notices, District meeting notices, and news blasts will be sent to all those who provide email and elect to receive the electronic notifications.

In order to make the Awards Program successful we need your participation. Please take the time and nominate someone for an award. TWUA has made the process very user-friendly. All you have to do is go to the TWUA website and click on the “Awards” button. The award nomination form is electronic and user-friendly. It only takes a few moments and we need your help in recognizing our members who go above and beyond.

Appreciate your support and hope to see you at Annual School.
