Annoucements from the President

Being asked to join the Management Committee for TWUA was and is a humbling experience. Since I first became active in the organization, I have watched those whose time, resources, experi¬ence, and skills were spent continuing and expanding upon the traditions of decades. And I have watched with awe. Each new member of the Management Committee, each President, has brought something special to this organization - a strength or skill that was needed during the time they served.

As incoming President, I truly want to contribute to that long line of people who have made our organization better than when they came in. I would like to see TWUA use the traditions and history of the past as build¬ing blocks and stepping stones as it evolves into the organization that the members of today and tomorrow need for training, networking, information, industry knowledge, and growth. Patti Wunderlich, of the TWUA Central Office, said it best – we want TWUA to be a “One Stop Shop” for everything water utility employees need to succeed in their careers in this industry.

It is not just Central Office and the Management Committee that will be needed to make this happen. The tradition of district and regional support is one that can help move all of us into this future vision. In return, the tradition of central support to the districts and regions will keep the vision alive and moving.

We all do the best we can to “get the job done”. Education, learning, sharing, and teaching are important elements to meeting our goal. TWUA being at the hub of that learning, sharing, and teaching process is another tradition that I hope to see us build on. The future holds many wonderful things for our association. New technology, new information, new ways of training and learning, and we need to be part of all of that.

As we move forward into this new phase, our continued investment in teaching and training has positioned TWUA among one of the top training providers in Texas. We have taken it upon ourselves to become a tangible force for a positive impact in the industry. We are proud of where we are and we look forward to the challenges that lie ahead.

We shall not forget the traditions and the history that have carried the organization for ninety-three years. We need to remember the past accomplishments with pride and then focus on continuing the tradition of “Educational Excellence since 1918”.

Happy Spring!
