Non-Point Source - Scattered, not-easily identified sources of discharge or contamination (e.g., runoff).
POTW - Publicly Owned Treatment Works. Municipal sewage treatment plant. POTWs treat wastewater.
P2 - Pollution Prevention
Pollution Prevention - preventing pollution before it is generated. In Texas law, this includes source reduction and waste minimization.
Pretreatment - treatment of wastes prior to entering the sewer system.
Source Reduction - any practice that reduces the amount of any hazardous substance or pollutant entering any waste stream or released into the environment prior to recycling, treatment or disposal; and reduces the hazards to public health and the environment associated with the release of such substances or pollutants.
TCEQ - The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality
Waste Minimization - any practice that reduces the environmental or health hazards associated with hazardous wastes, pollutants, or contaminants. Includes reuse, recycling, neutralization, and detoxification.
